So, Where’s It Going To Be?

Our guess is the Camden County Airport will be way out Highway 40 West towards Folkston. The Georgia DOT’s justification for the airport included serving Camden County and Charlton County. The landfill and gun range already make that area a tough sell for folks wanting to build where there is peace and quiet for their families. Locating the airport way out there simply reduces the complaints officials will receive if they drop it closer to businesses, subdivisions, or even the interstate. Maybe they'll aim the runway at Ricky's home.

They’re calling it a business airport that will benefit economic development, but really? Here are the proposed users:

Plus seventeen private planes register at Camden addresses. We paid a few 10’s of thousands for this “analysis.” Of those 852 businesses, how many gas stations, fast food joints, hair salons, furniture stores, and Dollar Trees use small aircraft for business? The Hyundai Plant site is over 100 miles from Camden on Interstate 16. Cumberland Inlet? Maybe. St. Marys Commerce Park? They couldn’t fill the park when the airport was attached! And please name the 11 Economic Development Projects.
We don’t know about you, but we’re tired of being nothing more than financial cows being milked for idiotic ideas.
Bad decisions like the spaceport, drop-our-pants economic deals, and the Camden County Airport originate in secrecy and when voters are disengaged. Make sure your neighbor understands and votes.
And if that doesn't get you engaged or enraged, Charlton County isn't paying a nickel for what will be their new airport, too. A gift from Camden taxpayers.
